Access

Members of the public are now able to instruct barristers direct, without using an intermediary. This provides great potential for significant cost savings for individuals and companies, seeking legal assistance but without the extra expense of a solicitor.

1 Essex Court has a number of barristers qualified to accept instructions directly from members of the public. Our barristers can be instructed in all practice areas, except criminal, family and immigration work.

For further information or assistance in instructing a barrister at 1 Essex Court (including an indication as to fees), please contact our clerks.

More general information on the Public Direct Access scheme can be obtained from the Bar Council.
