Recruitment
1 Essex Court Chambers actively encourages applications from outstanding individuals who currently practice in the core practice areas of Chambers and those who practice in ancillary specialist areas.
From time to time Chambers, with a policy of controlled expansion, invites applications in the legal press – particularly the Bar newsletters. At all other times applications, made in the strictest of confidence, should in the first instance be addressed in writing to the Recruitment Committee at the Chambers address, with a detailed curriculum vitae attached.
Further details of Chambers recruitment policy may be obtained from the Recruitment Committee.
Pupillage
Chambers has a number of accredited Pupil Masters and from time to time looks to take on pupil barristers. There is no fixed intake, and the policy of Chambers is reviewed annually.
Chambers does not subscribe to the OLPAS scheme but 1 Essex Court operates an Equal Opportunities policy in line with its obligations under the Bar Code on Equality & Diversity as stipulated by the Bar Council of England & Wales.
For further details on pupillage enquiries should in the first instance be made of the Chambers Recruitment Committee clearly marked ‘Pupillage’.
