Called: 2013

Inn: Middle Temple

Having previously worked as a sports journalist in the UK and India, Varun joined 1 Essex Court in April 2014 following successful completion of his pupillage within chambers. He is developing a litigation and advisory practice in line with chambers profile and welcomes court instruction and paperwork in these areas.

During and after pupillage, he also has gained experience of personal and corporate insolvency work, consumer credit, undue influence, commercial and residential property, landlord and tenant and Local Authority Housing work. He is developing a niche practice in claims involving negligence by Information Technology professionals.

Varun has worked on several high--value international disputes in the Commercial and Chancery Divisions of the High Court, and is building his practice in these areas in the context of both litigation and arbitration.

Having been instructed by the Treasury Solicitor as a Baby Barrister in relation to the Serious Fraud Office’s prosecutions of financial market-rigging activities, Varun holds valid government security clearance to CTC level.
